Creating and testing dynamic ad-hoc channels
Mobile Adhoc NETworks (MANET) operate on a peer-to-peer basis without a fixed infrastructure. In such an environment, each node may act as a router, source or destination. SDR (Software Defined Radio) algorithms and waveforms define the performance of the system; how the radios will connect to create a network and how the data is routed between the users. One of the challenges of testing a MANET network is to create controllable conditions for multiple radios with required mobility.
The Propsim® F8 is a unique product in the market that integrates functions of an advanced terrestrial channel emulator and an advanced satellite channel emulator into one compact and affordable piece of test equipment. The Propsim® F8 supports the creation of MIMO and MESH network topologies. Properties such as radio channel model, delay spread, Doppler and dynamic behaviour can be independently controlled for each link. Open file interface allows the user to import user specific scenarios generated via Matlab® or STK® software. AGI's STK® software linked to Propsim® F8 offers a simple method of scenario planning for MANET and link level testing with access to orbit and satellite data as well as 3D terrain databases.
